There’s one thing that’s certain about this American steakhouse; it isn’t going to put on any airs and graces for anyone. Set up in 2006 by two New Yorkers, The Bird serves good honest steaks and burgers paired with cold German beer. However it’s far from a fast food take away, and prides itself on its fresh ingredients and homemade flair. There’s an extensive menu, including helpful recommendations for steak novices, but everything can be made to order if you so desire. With classic combinations on offer you’ll be spoilt for choice – ‘The Bronx Bomb’, smothered in buffalo mozzarella then coated in marinara sauce, is our personal favourite. Both food and fun come in huge portions; their only rule is that when it comes to a burger, cutlery is a no-go. So go there hungry, roll up those sleeves and devour whatever meat is in front of you…and don’t even think about turning up without a reservation.
