The Eaton Centre
A big deal when it opened in 1977, this mall of 230 stores, restaurants and services is Toronto’s top tourist attraction (sharing pole position with the CN Tower). Both its multi-level layout (stretching from Dundas Street to Queen Street) and its impressive vaulted glass ceiling set a precedent for North American shopping malls. At the south end (near Queen Street), there’s a rather beautiful sculpture called Flight Stop by local artist Michael Snow. It features a flock of life-sized Canada geese in flight through the atrium. Stores include: Armani Exchange; Abercrombie & Fitch; Aldo; Apple; Aveda Experience Centre; Banana Republic; Baskin Robbins; Bath & Body Works; BCBG Max Azria; Bebe; Bench; Birks Jewellery; The Body Shop; Browns; Club Monaco; Coach; Crabtree & Evelyn; The Disney Store; Esprit; Foot Locker; Fossil; French Connection; The Gap; Geox; Godiva; Guess; H&M; Harry Rosen; HMV; Hollister; Indige Books; La Senza; Lacoste; Levi’s; Lululemon Athletica; Lush; MAC; Mexx; Michael Kors; Nike; Nine West; Oakley; Roots; Sephora; Swarovski; Swatch; Victoria’s Secret; Zara.
