The Hungry Cat
Minimalist industrial design and clean lines define the space lorded over by Chef and Owner David Lentz. An upscale answer to an east coast seafood house, Hungry Cat offers fresh seafood and a creative menu of hot dishes and desserts. The mixology must be mentioned; the imaginative and perfectly balanced cocktails alone are reason enough to pop in on a Hollywood evening (or afternoon happy hour offers half-off drinks and runs from a very happy noon to six). If you catch the seasonal Sleepy Jean it’s a must-try concoction of chamomile-infused tequila and honey simple syrup. On any given night Lentz offers a succulent array of oysters, shrimp, crab legs, caviar and lobster on his raw bar. Of the hot dishes the Lobster Roll, a healthy chunk of perfectly cooked lobster with creamy mayo and parsley on a toasted roll and served with French fries, is a local favorite. For those skipping the seafood there is always the famous Pug Burger, an enormous, gratifying stack of beef, blue cheese, bacon and avocado. Service can be slow at night and the prices are a bit high – it’s easy to spend over $150 at Hungry Cat on food alone, and trust us, you’ll want a cocktail. So come with full pockets and plenty of time to enjoy.
