Hg2 : The Hedonist

The Mercer

There’s much to love about this elegant, 75-room boutique beauty, which has been one of the favourite places to stay in New York, playing host to everybody who’s anybody at one time or another. A natural choice for sophisticates whose social sensibilities, fashionable work, or shopping addictions lead them to Soho, the Mercer – sister property to LA’s legendary Chateau Marmont – is housed in a landmark Romanesque revival building on one of the neighborhood’s most stylish corners. Staffed primarily with capable model types, the hotel provides end-of-the-earth service and offers a wide range of services – packing and unpacking, personal training, chauffeurs, overnight shoe shines, same-day laundry, and excellent anytime concierge. You even get your own local cell phone to use. Rooms were designed by interiors legend Christian Liaigre, who kept things elegant, simple, and cushy – dark wood dining furniture and floors, plush seating, handsome king-sized beds with 400-thread-count sheets, and soothing bathrooms with sexy marble soaking tubs and a stock of FACE Stockholm bath products. All the while, fashion and media types buzz in, out of, and around Jean Georges Vongericthen’s celebrated French-American eatery (The Mercer) Kitchen.
