If you make it past the militant doormen which come as standard at many of the clubs in Sydney, you’re guaranteed a frolicsome time at The Tunnel because beyond the exclusivity and overpriced hooch, the dance floor is always packed and everyone seems rearing to get shimmying under the ceiling of dozens of spinning mirror balls. The Tunnel’s DJs seem to have an innate sense of knowing exactly when to churn it up, too – expect a mix of up-for-it house and club tracks. To avoid any disappointment or vein-exploding encounters with the doormen, try reserving ahead for priority entry. Or, if you’re in a group, there are five private booth areas that can comfortably hold 10 or more clubbers – with packages starting at around $350, which includes exclusive entry for your guests, a $100 bar tab and two bottles of Champagne. Not a bad entrée to the evening.
