The White Horse
The White Horse is as much about the beer as it is the ridiculously stereotyped crowd you’ll find in bars on Sloane Square, London. Brays of ‘Oh, look Annabelle, there’s Annabelle’ resound from the rugby-shirted crowd as they discuss the day’s shooting or upcoming skiing holiday to Val d’Isère. However, if you can look past all of this to the welcoming interior, with deep Chesterfield sofas, a roaring fire in winter, a ludicrously popular outside terrace, summer barbeques and the ability to pick up your pint and meander onto Parson’s Green to mull in the sunshine, then The White Horse has undeniable charms. What’s more, The White Horse is a ‘beer pub’ – what pub isn’t, you might ask? Perhaps one without beer festivals, beer-food pairing in its large dining room, up to 14 different beers on tap and some 55 varieties of bottled beers, and, deservedly, a platinum Beautiful Beer award. For that, there’s a rival tribe in town: the bearded beer tourist, who in their specs and cagoules, present an amusing foil to the yah majority at The Sloaney Pony.
