Hg2 : The Hedonist

Theatre Royal

Plonked right in the heart of the city centre, adjacent to the MLC shopping centre and near various high-end boutiques on King and Castlereagh Streets, the Theatre Royal building was designed by renowned architect Harry Seidler and is one of the old favourites when it comes to theatres in Sydney, especially for dramatic productions like The Importance of Being Earnest, The Woman in Black and The Hollow Crown. While it’s true that many of the large-scale productions were snatched by the multi-million dollar makeover at the Capitol Theatre in Haymarket, the sizeable 1180-seat auditorium still attracts big-name productions and mega-musicals like Les Miserables, Cats, Rent and Jersey Boys.
