Three Muses
At this Frenchmen Street club – The Three Muses – Chef Daniel Esses makes global bar snacks that match the cooking of many of the New Orleans’ top restaurants. You can order a pint, enjoy the music, or simply make of meal of the pork belly, lamb sliders, or Korean beef. The long, narrow room is soothingly dark and at the stage upfront – next to the doors often open to the street – musicians crowd onto a small stage. They might be a jazz combo or a pair playing lilting French songs. The acoustic of the room carry the sound to every corner without drowning out the conversations, some of which are in English, some in other languages. Every few minutes, a cook emerges from the kitchen with plates of feta french fries, Chinese broccoli, or bite-sized lamb burgers with goat cheese. This Frenchmen Street bar feels like a watering hole in a foreign port. It’s the kind of place that would be your first stop after a long journey.
