Hg2 : The Hedonist

Top of the Mark

The most refined of all San Francisco bars, the Top of the Mark skylounge sits on the 19th floor atop Nob Hill, offering a near-360 degree view. If it’s Sunday night, it’s sultry jazz. Tuesday is jazz piano. Wednesday is Latin jazz, and on weekends it’s the jazz orchestra. And every night, pearls and dinner jackets are entirely appropriate. The menu lists 100 different martinis. Order a Blue Velvet Martini and hum the theme song as you dance cheek to cheek. You can’t help but feel nostalgic when you make your way up to the 19th floor of the Mark Hopkins and to the Top of the Mark. This is the old San Francisco, full of history, romance, and high style. It also serves Sunday brunch and breakfast and lunch every day. In World War II, the soldiers would come here for one last toast before shipping out. Dress up in honour of those who have come before you.
