Torre Colpatria
The 50-floor building was built from 1978-79 and, at 196-metres high, is the tallest building in Colombia, so it’s definitely one of the best things to do in Bogotá for the sheer novelty of it. The tower rises high over the rest of Bogota, and when you journey to the top and step out at the 50th-floor Torre Colpatria provides the most spectacular views. A balcony (well-fenced and guarded to prevent unfortunate accidents) enables tourists to look out over the city and get their bearings in this sprawling metropolis. One can see a birds-eye view of the bullfighting ring down below and the city lights stretching out for miles until they are hemmed in by the green Andes. Torre Colpatria is a nightmare for anyone afraid of heights, but if you can face the dizzying distance from the ground then the scene from the top is truly impressive.
