Town Hall Square
The Old Town is where you will find the densest collection of craft, antiques and souvenir shops – as well as a few small, designer boutiques. Lurking in the alleys are enough souvenir shops to fill 15 Christmas stockings with gifts.
The quality of these can be really quite high, with hand-made, authentic craftwork far outweighing machine-made tat and cheesy postcards. From late November the entire square is transformed into a festive, German-style Christmas market – packed with wooden stalls selling everything from clothes and crafts to mulled wine and Estonian food. Fun.
Antiik – religious icons, some dating back to the 17th century
Aurum – jewellery
Gold Market – jewellery
Horveit Estonian – hand-made linen, clothes, sweaters and amber
Jardin – crafty, good-quality woollens and gifts
Sangla Juveelisalong – jewellery
Villa Nella – gifts and souvenirs
