Hg2 : The Hedonist

Tutti Frutti

This is one one of the restaurants in Rome where you’ll ponder the menu for a good long while, thanks in part to the hieroglyphic handwritten menu. It requires some elucidation but once you decipher the daily specials with a little help from owner Michele, you’ll soon discover that the food is splendid. Whereas most eateries in this part of town have traditional menus of offal and tripe, the cuisine is fresh, contemporary and much less scary. Behind the discreet frosted glass entrance you’ll find an interior that’s spacious and basic, yet with some colourful touches. The kitchen is open till late and so close to the club strip that you can bounce out of the door and find yourself straight on the pulsing Via Galvani. It’s as good for a quick bite as it is for lingering over carafes of wine alongside a sophisticated, cultured yet not ostentatious set.
