Look for the big radio tower, visible throughout the city and from the Marin Headlands all the way to the East Bay, and you will be staring at Twin Peaks, one of the most attractive sights in San Francisco. These are two hills that are named so for reasons that are obvious from most perspectives. The only point in going is to see the view, which is entirely panoramic. From the top, the city stretches out like a great map of itself, offering up all its landmarks for easy reference. The best time of day to visit is dusk, when you can watch the sunset blend into stars, or at night, when you’re sure to get that Inspiration Point feeling. By day, tour buses line the parking lot, choking off the good vibe. Go, soak up the view, and retreat to 24th Street in Noe Valley for refreshment.
