Ungelt Jazz & Blues Club
One of the best known and mainstreamed of the Prague jazz bars, Ungelt is a small, underground cellar with an enviable location just behind the stunning Tyn Church (Old Town Square).
After passing through a slightly confusing and brightly lit restaurant you descend some steps into the venue proper, which is split into two areas: a bar and a live performance space. Both are intimate, to say the least. Bands tend to be high-profile and home-grown rather than internationally famous, but the quality of musicianship is generally high.
You can choose to hang out at the bar and listen to the show for free (beers and mixers are on offer, rather than cocktails), or pay to sit in the small concert room (it used to be a coal cellar) and absorb the heavenly barrage of minor fifths at close range.
Ungelt has broad appeal, and you’ll probably be enjoying the sounds among a varied crowd consisting of tourists, young aficionados, families and older folk.
