Tucked away on busy Talstrasse is a little slice of pure glamour. Darkly sexy, this long narrow bar was renovated by an Italian design firm in 2009 when the current owners took it over. Eschewing the miss-matched-just-found-it-in-a-flea-market design ethos so popular elsewhere in town, Valmann is a chic take on the 1980s; black walls, black bar, black leather seats, good looking black-clad barman with a striking backlit circular installation along the long wall and a large disco ball adding sparkle.
Superb cocktails, a great sound system and the friendly atmosphere pull in an attractive, professional crowd drawn from the area’s numerous private banks, hedge funds and the like. Popular for after-work drinks during the week, Valmann is THE place on Thursday evenings when it’s packed out from about 6pm onwards. At 10pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings a DJ takes to the decks, the pace picks up and the party lasts long into the wee hours of the next morning.
