Although Vilsvin, as with most places in Barcelona, serves alcohol, has a late license and is a full-serving restaurant, it is at its most fabulous during the day. The light floods down Ferran towards the Ramblas at just the right time in the afternoon, lighting up this “taverna” and making it a great pit-stop for coffee and a snack (or a cocktail and oysters if that’s what you’re in the mood for). It’s super-sleek design – delicate lighting, heavy wooden seats, clean whitewashed walls and a slender fresh oyster bar at the entrance – is a dose of refreshing modernity amidst its ancient gothic surroundings. Peaceful, aesthetically very cool and offering every drink imaginable and any type of food you could want, it’s a great little spot for breakfast, lunch, dinner, late night drinking and all points in between.
