Hg2 : The Hedonist

Vizcaya Museum

Vizcaya is the last thing you would expect to find in Miami. It’s like a stately home in the heart of Europe overlooking the water, except the water is Biscayne Bay.

Built by industrialist James Deering in 1916 as his winter home, it became a museum in 1952, 27 years after his death.

Inside Vizcaya boasts antiques from the 16th to the 19th centuries, as well as some of the first telephone switchboards and vacuum-cleaning systems known to man.

Outside the stately gardens, pools and fountains are breathtaking. This feels a thousand miles away from South Beach.
