The ‘Living Room’ bar does exactly what it says on the tin.
Those familiar with Berlin will recognise the style; a mishmash of mis-matched
furniture thrown together to a surprisingly stylish result. Housed in the
living room of a house condemned to imminent demolition, managers Wini and Dani
are optimistic that they have until at least 2012 before they upsticks to a new
home: with a shared history in Zürich’s 1990s underground bar and club scene,
they are well versed in the vicissitudes of running a pop-up bar.
The scene is
unstudied cool, with laid-back music, distressed plaster and exposed woodwork. The
bar accoutrements are minimal, just a small, rather retro, bar and a bijou drinks list; no
20 pages of cocktails here, just wine, beer, prosecco and amazing margaritas and caiparinhas.
interesting looking, genuinely cool crowd, there is space for around 30 lucky
drinkers, banishing large groups elsewhere. Go for a pre-dinner drink and you
might find yourself staying for hours.
