Wok Wiz Chinatown Tour
Home to a thriving Chinese community and one of the best things to do in San Francisco for culture and to experience the Chinese neighbourhood is to go on one of the speciality Chinatown: Wok Wiz Tours given by expert Shirley Fong-Torres, whose numerous tour offerings give insider insights into the food, culture, and history of the area. Some even include cooking classes. There are two tours available, a short walk around Chinatown that includes lunch, and a longer tour for the food-obsessed that focuses on Chinatown’s shops, tea houses, dumpling takeout spots, and more. The tours are available in Cantonese as well as English. Be sure to bring a notebook, as some of the tour stops are difficult to find, and you’ll want to visit them again. Bring an empty shopping bag, while you’re at it, and take home ingredients for dinner! Otherwise, start at the Chinatown Gate at Grant Avenue and Bush Street and stroll up Grant and Stockton to Broadway, where Chinatown and predominantly Italian North Beach overlap.
