Zander
This family run Berlin restaurant specialising in regional dishes from Brandenburg and named after the Zander fish freshly caught from the Dahme river has a well earned excellent reputation. Set and seasonal menus are offered, with lengthy instructive explanations of each dish, and mirrored by the equally comprehensive wine list. Every effort has been taken to educate diners on the Brandenburg kitchen and helpful staff happily advise. Offal, blood sausage and others visceral dishes for the bold feature heavily, while excellent fish dishes cater for the faint-hearted. All is prepared with precision in the open-plan kitchen, allowing fascinated diners to watch the cooks in action. Extremely bright yellow walls help to lift the rather conservative feel of the interior. Zander has won several national awards and in an area awash with restaurants, it remains unrivalled in the gastronomic stakes. An interesting adventure in German cooking.
