Hg2 : The Hedonist

Zen Market

Zen Market is a bit of a paradox; an imperial palace set within a football stadium, which boasts glamour and decadence at surprisingly reasonable prices. Frequented by suited and booted business folk, it’s a labyrinth of over 300 seats split between intimate private balconies, a restaurant and a lounge area perfect for chilling out in after the revelry of a match. The restaurant menu offers the best of both Chinese and Japanese cuisine. Salt and Pepper Crab Tempura is served alongside ‘Beijing Lacquered duck’, bringing an authentic and refined tase of the Far East. It’s fair to say that the rather ostentatious decor (think dark red walls, low hanging lamps and, rather oddly, a giant statue of Chairman Mao) might ut some of their sushi, but that said, this place is worth a visit for the cocktails alone – try the Pisco Sour, a Peruvian favourite and a rare find in Madrid.
