Meaning “bad times”, the name of this bar in Praha 4 might give you some pause. But Zlý Časy offers anything but bad times. Why? Beer. It’s a short answer, but it’s apt. Here, there are dozens of beers on tap and in bottles, in glasses and in happy patrons. Over the years, Zlý Časy has expanded, now spreading over multiple floors, including a cosy cellar space and garden. The different bar areas have different brews on tap, and they change over time, so there’s always something new to try. There might be the Scottish craft beer, BrewDog, or Czech Pilsner from Bad Flash. There are IPAs, lagers, ales. Offerings from worldwide and microbreweries right here in the Czech Republic. The selection is dizzying – as might you be if you feel tempted to sample your way through it.
Want to keep the party going? There’s a food menu that’ll do the trick, thanks to a belly-filling range of burgers, cheese, and grilled sausages. Not to mention Bavarian potato salad, goulash, pate, roasts, ribs and tartare. And should your tipple of choice not be beer, there’s a fine selection of spirits, with a particularly strong rum selection, as well as a few wines and non-alcoholic options. As an added bonus, there’s also a selection of bottles to buy, so the fun can continue even after Zlý Časy closes its popular doors for the day. Let the bad times roll.
