The business district location of this, the fourth in the international chain of upscale modern Japanese eateries, means that during the day it attracts men with fat wallets and expensive suits, and in the evening, the thin ladies who love them. It’s only fitting that this 300-cover, two-floor glass cube of a joint retains its status as the place to see and be seen (epitomised by the ‘private’ goldfish-bowl style dining room which hovers in the high-ceilinged space), but even the impressive eye candy pales in comparison to what’s on your plate. There are stools arranged around the sushi and sashimi station so you can watch the skilled chefs slice and dice the air-freighted fish. The giant traditional robata grill serves up succulent yakitori, Wagyu and even – unusually for Dubai – your common-or-garden veg dishes.
